Lewis Bling is a cop that has never had to follow the rules too hard and has done everything his way. This is perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues . He is a cocky, arrogant and immature but talented NYPD detective stationed at Brooklyn’s 97th precinct.
The room used has an elevated area where the main character stands. The rest of the room was a level low but not too much. The door of the room had a window placed in it so a bit of light was coming through. The wall of the room on which the whiteboard was placed was yellow providing a great back ground.
The whole shoot will take place in one place. The shoot takes place in a room so the lights used are the window light and a few extra lights used. The shadows were being showed too prominently so we had to cut the light a bit.
A 21 year old detective named Lewis needs to make a dangerous decision of whether he will be arresting a said individual or not. The person he has to make the call for arrest is a the son of the deputy commissioner and he could risk his career as detective on the front line and be a third grade detective which he finds ‘pathetic’. He tries to make the decision based on the opinions of his colleagues which tell him their opinions but have some fun themselves telling .They either tell that he shouldn’t do it. Or just be depressed like Jerry is when he tells that he has just completely given up on everything in his life at that point. Lewis is then interrupted to tell that the Deputy Commissioner is here to see him.
Larry Clive Charles (born December 1, 1956) is an American comedian, screenwriter, director, actor, and producer. He was a staff writer for the sitcom Seinfeld for its first five seasons, contributing some of the show’s darkest and most absurd storylines. He has also directed the documentary film Religulous and the mockumentary comedy films Borat, Brüno, and The Dictator. His Netflix documentary series Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy premiered in 2019.
Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York to a Jewish family. He was raised in Trump Village, located between Brighton Beach and Coney Island in Brooklyn.
After graduating from John Dewey High School, he attended college at Rutgers University in New Jersey, but he left school to perform comedy routines.
CAREER:
Charles performed stand-up comedy during the 1970s until he was hired to write for the short-lived sketch comedy show Fridays, where he worked with Larry David. This began Charles’s career in television writing that included The Arsenio Hall Show and eventually Seinfeld. David gave him the job as a writer on Seinfeld and his directorial debut on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Larry charles is the only comedic director to be so brave that he even joked with ISIS and asked the terrorists to tell him jokes that he could use in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
‘I’m always looking for comedy that really isn’t funny’ … Larry Charles with Special Forces, a former Liberian child soldier, in his Dangerous World of Comedy. Photograph: Netflix
At one point in his new documentary series, Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy, he visits a prison in Kirkuk, northern Iraq, to meet a captured Isis fighter who says his new guards are much funnier than the humourless terrorists he’s used to hanging around with. “He seemed sweet,” says Charles. “You realise there is a face to terrorism that is not the face you think.”
In terms of what can and can’t be said in 2019, Charles says he believes in “absolute free speech”, yet some of the most illuminating moments come when he has to reckon with what that actually means in reality. In Liberia, he meets the former warlord General Butt Naked, who earned that nickname after claiming to have taken troops into battle naked.
The general talks about murdering children, and reminisces about how charred human remains taste “like pork ribs”. He then reveals prosaically that he is a big fan of Kids Say the Darndest Things, the US comedy series hosted by Bill Cosby that ran in the late 1990s. Who would have thought one man could share a taste for both Cosby and human flesh? “Well, to me it’s not that far removed,” Charles says drily. “I never thought, when I was a child, that connection would be made. But here it is.”
Later, Charles finds himself on the receiving end of a determinedly unfunny antisemitic rant by the white supremacist hacker Andrew “Weev” Auernheimer. Then the alt-right troll Baked Alaska tells him that Borat – a movie in which Baron Cohen says of a Jewish woman “you can barely see her horns” – is one of his “biggest influences”. Baked Alaska tells Charles he was excited to meet him because “if anyone’s going to get me, it’s going to be you”. In voiceover, Charles says: “Oh, really?”
By this we are brought to the fact that Charles is not afraid to make his comedies in such a way that is easily forgettable and he is for sure is not afraid to make jokes on something that is sensitive in the society. Not only did charles discuss about this but he also showed this in the movie that he directed along with Sacha Baron Cohen, Larry David and so on , called The Dictator.
The dictator is proved to be the greatest work of Larry Charles to ever exist in the eyes of many. Mixed with Dark humour and the fact that it is influenced by the founder of Al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden.The movie goes by showing the era of democracy and showing that this era was not to be uplifted and the current Dictator is trying his best to do so while being childish and being an immature adult.
This political Satire is the best way to show how Larry Charles tries his best in the movies that he makes and tries to make everyone laugh. Although criticised by many on the fact that his work is not great only on the fact that society does not uphold the standards which are shown in his movies he keeps making them with dark humour and does not care on what you might say to him.
His work keeps on getting better and as the years have passed he keeps trying his best in his work without letting others trying to get to his head. This is to such an extent that he even started his show on Netflix called Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy.
Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy is an American documentary television series that premiered on Netflix on February 15, 2019. The 4-part series follows the comedy writer and director Larry Charles as he “travels the world in search of humor in the most unusual, unexpected and dangerous places,” such as Iraq, Somalia, Liberia, and Nigeria. He interviews comedians including Ahmad Al-Basheer, Trevor Noah, Brace “PissPigGranddad” Belden, and Hatoon Kadi. He also spends time exploring the American alt-right and its relationship to comedy, interviewing internet figures Anthime “Baked Alaska” Gionet and Andrew “Weev” Auernheimer.
Right off the bat, the show’s premise risks exemplifying a troublesome duality. On the one hand, it is extremely well-researched, and deserves credit for putting the spotlight on non-Western comedy in a way that is far more interesting than re-litigating American comedy’s cultural ubiquity again in the safest possible environment, as, say, a show where comedians ride around drinking coffee might.
Covering the comedy scenes in both Iraq and Liberia, the first part of the show is extremely successful when it comes to communicating the environment in which these comedians find their voices. In Iraq, where comedians can be assassinated for joking about the wrong thing, one TV host describes being kidnapped, and subsequently having to joke his way out of more extreme forms of torture.
A Genre is any form or type of communication in any mode with socially-agreed-upon conventions developed over time.Genres form by conventions that change over time as cultures invent new genres and discontinue the use of old ones.Genre began as an absolute classification system for ancient Greek Literature, as set out in Aristotle’s Poetics.Because art is often a response to a social state, in that people write/paint/sing/dance about what they know about, the use of genre as a tool must be able to adapt to changing meanings.

MY CHOSEN GENRE: COMEDY
Sub genres of comedy include:
Alternative Comedy;
Differs from traditional punchline jokes which features many other forms of comedy such as observation, satire, surrealism, slapstick and improvisation. In its content, Alternative Comedy emerged as a counter to the establishment entertainment figures from the previous generation: It was often cited for its disregard to established comedic movements and ranged from the surreal to slapstick, usually with a combination of both. Example ‘Young Adult’.
Dark Comedy;
Deals with disturbing subjects such as death, drugs, terrorism and war ; can sometimes be related to the horror movie genre. Examples include;Rick and Morty, Heathers, Parasite, In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths.
Cringe Comedy;
A comedy of embarrassment, in which the humor comes from inappropriate actions or words; usually popular in television shows and film, but occasionally in stand-up as well.
Example : Bridesmaids, Bruno, Death At A Funeral, After Hours.
Insult Comedy;
A form which consists mainly of offensive insults directed at the performer’s audience and/or other performers. Examples include; The Women, Three Amigos, The War Of The Roses, The Man Who Came To Dinner.
Sketch;
A shorter version of a sitcom, practised and typically performed live.
Topical Comedy;
Relies on headlining/important news and current affairs; it dates quickly, but is a popular form for late night talk-variety shows.
Word Play;
More intellectual forms based on clever, often subtle manipulation of language (though puns can be crude and farcical).
Codes And Conventions Of Comedy Genre;
CAMERA a wide range of camera shots are used to highlight comedic action and facial features. For example, CU and POV are often used so as to position the audience with the protagonist, enhancing comedic moments. Low and high angle shots are used frequently to exaggerate a character’s power and status. Often the camera’s movements are very naturalistic as comedies create a sense of ‘realism’- making the production more relatable for an audience.
LIGHTING Bright, colourful lighting is often used to reflect the upbeat, light tone of the film. Audiences associate the comedy genre with vibrancy and joy. SOUND Sound effects are stereotypically used throughout comedy films, acting as codes or markers and enhancing comedic effect( EG. Slapstick sounds).
MISE-EN-SCENE Conventionally, Comedies aim to construct a form of ‘realism’, resulting in the use of Invisible Editing. However, Comedic timing is key- editors must choose when to cut to a relevant reaction or character and create a pregnant pause. It is also important to build a form of dramatic irony, letting the audience see the joke slightly before the characters. EDITING Mise-en-Scene is often exaggerated in order to create a comedic effect- make-up and costume are vital in creating a preferred reading of a laughable character. The audience must be encouraged to laugh through the use of technical and symbolic codes in order to prevent guilt for laughing. Stereotypes are used as a cultural shorthand (Dutton) in order to increase comedic value of characters.
THEMES AND MOTIFS Comedies cover a wide range of themes and narratives. Due to the typical use of this genre within a hybrid as a sub-genre, narratives commonly involve action, romance or sci-fi. The genre can also take many forms, such as ‘Black Comedy’,used in satirical or dramatic films, which uses dark humour to make light of a usually taboo topic. Parody and Slapstick are also popular types of comedy; more light hearted than Black Comedies, they fulfil the audience pleasure of ‘Share laughter with family and Friends’ Stereotypically, comedies also offer the pleasure ‘Warm mode of Address’.
Why I Chose This Genre?
As a kid I liked to laugh and make others laugh whenever I could get a chance to and my mother always told me to smile and put on a happy. She told me that my purpose was to make people laugh and share joy with others because we never know what could happen next in this short life of ours.

Mickey Mouse is a funny animal cartoon character and the mascot of The Walt Disney Company. He was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928. An anthropomorphic mouse who typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves, Mickey is one of the world’s most recognizable characters.
Created as a replacement for a prior Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey first appeared in the short Plane Crazy, debuting publicly in the short film Steamboat Willie (1928), one of the first sound cartoons. He went on to appear in over 130 films, including The Band Concert (1935), Brave Little Tailor (1938), and Fantasia (1940). Mickey appeared primarily in short films, but also occasionally in feature-length films. Ten of Mickey’s cartoons were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, one of which, Lend a Paw, won the award in 1942. In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Beginning in 1930, Mickey has also been featured extensively as a comic strip character. The Mickey Mouse comic strip, drawn primarily by Floyd Gottfredson, ran for 45 years. Mickey has also appeared in comic books such as Disney Italy’s Topolino, MM – Mickey Mouse Mystery Magazine, and Wizards of Mickey, and in television series such as The Mickey Mouse Club (1955–1996) and others. He also appears in other media such as video games as well as merchandising and is a meetable character at the Disney parks.
Mickey generally appears alongside his girlfriend Minnie Mouse, his pet dog Pluto, his friends Donald Duck and Goofy, and his nemesis Pete, among others (see Mickey Mouse universe). Though originally characterized as a cheeky lovable rogue, Mickey was rebranded over time as a nice guy, usually seen as an honest and bodacious hero. In 2009, Disney began to rebrand the character again by putting less emphasis on his friendly, well-meaning persona and reintroducing the more menacing and stubborn sides of his personality, beginning with the video game Epic Mickey.
I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.
— Walt Disney, Disneyland; October 27, 1954
Throughout the earlier years, Mickey’s design bore heavy resemblance to Oswald, save for the ears, nose, and tail.[37][38][39] Ub Iwerks designed Mickey’s body out of circles in order to make the character simple to animate. Disney employees John Hench and Marc Davis believed that this design was part of Mickey’s success as it made him more dynamic and appealing to audiences.
A large part of Mickey’s screen persona is his famously shy, falsetto voice. From 1928 onward, Mickey was voiced by Walt Disney himself, a task in which Disney took great personal pride. Composer Carl W. Stalling was the very first person to provide lines for Mickey in the 1929 short The Karnival Kid, and J. Donald Wilson and Joe Twerp provided the voice in some 1938 broadcasts of The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air,although Disney remained Mickey’s official voice during this period.
